Microsoft Confirms Windows RT won't get New Universal Apps

Next month, Microsoft updated Windows RT 8.1 to provide users with a handful of new features, such as improvements in the Start menu and screen lock on their devices. Some reports have claimed that the changes will make the tablet interface looks more like Windows 10, though it is still powered by Windows 8.1.

However, the update, like previous versions will not be compatible with the new Windows universal applications that Microsoft has encouraged developers to build for Windows 10, a spokesman said in an email.
